22.02.05 - Nightwish Feature on Detonator TV

Detonator TV, the worlds first broadband rock and metal channel, are currently broadcasting an interview with Nightwish from their recent UK tour. This feature also includes exclusive backstage footage and live photos.

20.02.05 - Nightwish Orchestra Show News

Contrary to many rumours, following discussion with the band and their management, Nightwish will not play a show with an orchestra in 2005. The band have their sights set on London's Royal Albert Hall, however as this venue is booked until the end of 2006, no show will be possible for some time. There are still no concrete plans for the show, however the plan is now for it to take place in London, at the Royal Albert Hall in 2007.

20.02.05 - UK Tour Completed

Nightwish have played the fifth and final date of their UK tour to a second sold out crowd at the London Astoria. The tour also took in Birmingham, Glasgow and Manchester with the band playing the same setlist (as detailed below) each night. After the final show the band were presented with a 'Golden Ticket' award from Clear Channel for selling out the entire tour.

04.02.05 - Nightwish Clean Up in Terrorizer Readers Poll

Nightwish have made a strong showing in the Terrorizer Magazine Readers Poll 2004. Readers voted Nightwish into second place in the 'Best Band/Artist' section, with Once coming joint third in the race for 'Best Album'. The band were also voted as second 'Best Live Act'. For the individual members, Tarja was voted 'Best Vocalist' and second 'Most Shaggable Female' while Tuomas came equal second in the poll for 'Best Musician'. On the other side of the coin, Tarja was also voted the eighth 'Least Shaggable Artist' with Nightwish finding themselves in sixth place for 'Worst Band/Artist'!

In the wake of the tremendous success of her Christmas solo single in Finland, Nightwish frontwoman Tarja Turunen has agreed to embark on a Christmas concert tour in December 2005. Exact cities and dates will be announced during the coming months.

As previously reported, Turunen's single, "Yhden Enkelin Unelma" ("One Angel's Dream"), has been certified gold in Finland for sales in excess of 5,000 copies (gold certification for albums is 15,000 copies). The single, which was released in early December, entered the Finnish single chart at position No. 2 and has since moved into the No. 1 slot, where it has remained for the past three weeks. Turunen recently completed a video shoot for her collaboration with German "Star Search" winner Martin Kesici on his song "Leaving You for Me", which is due to appear on Kesici's second album. The "Leaving You for Me" single is scheduled for release on January 31, 2005 and will include the promotional video for the song.

Spinefarm are set to release the Platinum Edition of 'Once' on 24 November 2004. Included on this version will be 'Live To Tell The Tale', 'White Night Fantasy' and the Nemo video. 'Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan', the third single from 'Once', will also be released at the same time. The single will include an instrumental version of 'Creek Mary's Blood' and a cover of Megadeth's 'Symphony of Destruction'.

21.10.04 - UK Shows Onsale Date

17.08.04 - More Winners!

15.08.04 - Bloodstock Competition Winner

Congratulations go to Daniel Tyler, the very first Oceanborn competition winner! The answer to the question was of course, Nightwish. Daniel wins a pair of tickets to the Bloodstock Warmup Party featuring Edenbridge and Season's End.

12.08.04 - Second Statement Released Regarding Cancelled Shows

To answer the questions being asked by many as to why US visa problems prevented Nightwish from playing in Canada, the bands manger Ewo Rytkonen has made the following statement:

"The band COULD have done the shows in Canada, because we would not need Visas/Working Permits to Canada, since the band do have a second set of passports.

However, since these second passports are NOT valid to enter to USA, even as a tourist, because they lack certain barcodes etc. which the US customs officials require in order to enter the country.

So, after doing these two shows in Canada, the band would have had to fly BACK to Finland and wait for the Visas from the US Embassy (they require that each & every person must come over to the Embassy to pick up his/her Visa/Passport.

So doing the tour this way would have meant that about three or four shows in the US would have been cancelled, not to forget that we would have had to buy an extra set of international flights for 17 persons, which would have been very expensive, since these flights would have been booked in the last minute.

So all in all, as disappointing it was to the Canadian fans and the band too, we just had to cancel the first three shows of the tour instead of flying overseas TWO times, losing even more money, maybe even losing the US Visas too (if we would have not gotten the suitable return flights back from Montreal in time) and not to cancel those four shows in the US, which would have made our routing as a nightmare.

In a situation like this there is no easy solution, you just have to take the one with the smallest damage, and this time it was the Canadian NW fans who had to suffer because of this, for which we all are truly, truly sorry about.

We are trying to reschedule the Canadian shows for the latter part of 2004, maybe even adding a second one to Montreal. Stay tuned."

10.08.04 - Canada and US Tour Dates Cancelled

Nightwish have been forced to cancel the first three dates of their tour of the US and Canada. The shows affected are Toronto, Montreal and Philadelphia. The band have issued the following statement:

"Our US Visa applications were filed early enough at the end of March 2004, so the U.S. Immigration Office is the one responsible for not being able to handle these applications within this 4, 5 months of time. There was never anything we could have done but wish for some co-operation from their side. The result is as seen.

We are very sorry for this and we understand that many of you are pissed. So are we. Big time. Naturally we will do everything we can to make this up and as soon as possible.

The rest of the US shows will happen as scheduled.

03.08.04 - Nightwish Sign to Roadrunner Records

Nightwish have finally signed a deal for the release of 'Once' in America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The album will be released shortly through Roadrunner Records, home of artists such as Slipknot, Machine Head and Nickelback.

Nuclear Blast have confirmed the tracklist for forthcoming single Wish I Had An Angel, which is released Europe-wide on 20 September.

15.07.04 - Nightwish play to over 1200 people in Nottingham!

Rock City was packed to the rafters last night as Nightwish reached the halfway mark of their UK mini tour. The setlist was the same as the previous nights show in Bradford, with many commenting that the band played even better tonight than in Bradford!

Just one more date to go, and that's London. Word has it that the Astoria is close to selling out, so book your tickets now to avoid disappointment on the door.

Today is the first date of the 2004 Nightwish UK tour. The band will play Bradford this evening (Tuesday), Nottingham tommorrow and London on Friday. Those heading to Bradford should note that the venue will be Rio's and that the possible change of venue to the Town & Country Club has not taken place. A special Nightwish Beer has been brewed by Pirkanmaan Uusi Panimo and will be sold in Kitee's (Nightwish's hometown) K-Market Kupiainen shop and at the Kievari restaurant. Fans heading to the album launch show will also be able to purchase the brew which features a picture of the band on the label.

Todays other marketing move has been in conjunction with the Finnish Post office, who will be selling a Nightwish package on May 22 for five Euro's. It will containa NIGHTWISH photo with signatures and a NIGHTWISH envelope and postage (valid only inside Finland). A special postmark will also be placed on all purchases made on this day. Fans in the UK will eventually be able to purchase these from the bands website.

Nightwish have come out on top in the 2004 'Powerplay Awards', voted for by readers of the magazine.

Not only did they come first in the Best Overseas Band/Artist category but Tuomas Holopainen was also voted Best Songwriter and Best Keyboardist. Tarja Turunen came second in the Best Vocalist category (behind Angela Gossow) and Emppu was voted the third Best Guitarist.

If that wasn't enough, the Nightwish Mean Fiddler concert was voted third in the Best Gig/Tour category, with Bloodstock taking the top spot, headlined of course by Nightwish!

Nemo singles

Nightwish.com have some more information with regard to the upcoming Nemo release. According to their latest information there will be 'two or three' different versions. As yet they haven't any other information, ie tracklisting, but will hopefully have this in the very near future. The Nightwish Shop have taken this into consideration and are asking people that have already made an order and wish to change the version requested to wait until the information has been released and then contact them via this email address.
