Oceanborn was founded in November 2003 as a result of the realisation that, at that point in time, there appeared to be very few opportunities for UK based fans of Nightwish to network, communicate and promote the band. After noting the success of Nightwish fan clubs in countries such as France and the Netherlands, it was decided that a venture of this kind could be successful in the UK, albeit on a slightly smaller scale to begin with.

Initially a forum was founded, attracting a respectable number of members right from the outset. Shortly afterwards, this website was opened and as in July 2004 we were certified as the Official UK Nightwish fanclub. We are one of a small number of fanclubs and websites worldwide to have been awarded official status by the band and their management. Oceanborn UK is fully endorsed by Nightwish, their management and record label.

On 11 January 2005 Oceanborn UK opened its doors to fanclub members for the first time. We offer a paid up membership scheme with a variety of benefits such as a club T-shirt, meet and greets with the band, exclusive competitions and a members area of the website. We also hope to add more in the future! For those who would rather not sign up, this website shall always remain free to view and we still provide free of charge our forum and also our newsletter.
