Hundreds came from all over for the first night of Nightwish's short but more than sweet UK tour at one of Yorkshire 's most acclaimed metal venues. Over 100 extra people queued without a ticket, hoping to cram themselves into the intimate Bradford Rio for what was to be an amazing night.
The show offered a mix of new tracks, opening with latest album opener "Dark Chest of Wonders" followed by soon to be live favourite "Planet Hell". Unsurprisingly, new single "Nemo" and the rather emotional new album closer "Higher than Hope" found their way into the setlist. Along side these was a mix of the band's most classic live tracks from past albums 'Century Child' and 'Wishmaster' including "She is my Sin", headbanger's favourite "Slaying the dreamer" and the beautiful 'Oceanborn' ballad "Sleeping Sun".
After much shouting, the crowd were rewarded with favourite "Wishmaster" as well as the epic "Dead Boys poem" and one of the bands many popular covers "Over the Hill's and far Away".
As if the fans were not satisfied already after such an amazing encore, hard paced - soon to be next hit "I Wish I had an Angel" closed the set leaving everyone wild for more.
