For Nightwish, this is their 6th album in the making - so there are very high expectations for the band's latest attempt. The album combines both mellow and heavy metal songs to create what some may call orchestral genius. Each song unique in its own way, each lyric finely thought-through and so the masterpiece is created - released in 2004 it goes platinum in Finland straight away.
The album lives up to all high expectations and in many ways even higher, as some claim it to be the best album ever made by the Finnish fivesome. The cover, artistic as ever with all Nightwish LPs shows an angel lying on a grave with a full moon around it and the name Nightwish across the top - makes a perfect eye-catcher for such a fine piece of work as this.
In comparison to other Nightwish records, this one has to be the biggest break-through for the band as a whole, now being on the receiving end of much media attention in Europe and the United Kingdom . The mastermind behind the band, Tuomas Halopainen has proved to us he can come back with bigger and better material as before and retains their reputation for being one of the most successful bands to come out of Finland, a position shared only with bands such as HIM and The Rasmus.
One thing for sure is, Nightwish have shown us what they can do and things are gonna get bigger and better for the new Operatic- Metal superstars.
